2023. Erudit raises $10M to monitor workplaces for ‘misalignment’

Erudit, a platform utilizing artificial intelligence to monitor workforce metrics such as turnover risk and burnout rate, has successfully secured $10 million in a Series A funding round. Similar to other workplace-surveillance tools, Erudit seamlessly integrates with existing company applications like Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom to gauge the overall pulse of the organization. Employing AI algorithms, Erudit analyzes the gathered data and generates scores across key metrics like "alignment," "autonomy," "engagement," and "satisfaction." The platform asserts its use of AI models "trained by psychologists" to discern and categorize the sentiment of employee chat messages. A demonstration on the company's website showcases the model's ability to identify specific trigger phrases such as "I’m so stressed," "I can’t handle it anymore," and "I’m looking at other jobs."

2021. Memory.ai, the startup behind time-tracking app Timely, raises $14M

Memory.ai, a company specializing in AI-powered productivity tools for personal time management, has successfully raised $14 million in funding. Operating from Oslo, Norway, the startup initially gained recognition through its app called Timely. Timely serves as a time tracking tool designed not only for individuals interested in self-quantification but also for those who require accurate time tracking for practical purposes, such as consultants or professionals working on billable hours. Since its launch in 2014, Timely has amassed a user base of 500,000, including over 5,000 paying businesses across 160 countries. The key innovation behind Timely lies in its ability to efficiently track time for specific tasks, rather than just overall working hours, without burdensome data entry requirements.

Productivity analytics startup Time is Ltd., aiming to become the equivalent of Google Analytics for tracking company time, has successfully raised $5.6 million in funding. In our daily work lives, we often encounter time-wasting factors such as unproductive meetings, incessant chat notifications, video conferencing tools, and an overwhelming influx of emails. Intuit, the company renowned for products like QuickBooks, has recently made a significant acquisition. They have acquired TSheets, a time-tracking service and employee scheduling app with a customer base exceeding 35,000, for a total of $340 million. Given the substantial overlap in their target markets, primarily catering to small and medium-sized businesses, it's evident that QuickBooks and TSheets complement each other. In fact, Intuit reveals that the two companies already share 12,000 customers, indicating an existing synergy. This acquisition is not primarily aimed at acquiring new customers but rather at enhancing the QuickBooks ecosystem. It's worth noting that TSheets already integrates with QuickBooks. 2014. Timely turns your calendar into time tracker

Timely is an innovative time-tracking app that offers a unique approach by focusing on a high-level view of your work week rather than specific tasks or projects. Instead of tracking individual tasks, you estimate the amount of time you will dedicate to a project on a future day. This estimation helps you make informed decisions about taking on additional work or scheduling meetings. Timely is accessible on iOS and the web, and it has recently introduced a new feature that allows users to import meetings and events from their calendars. This feature eliminates the need to manually enter the same information across multiple apps. While Timely is free for individual users, there is a limit on the number of projects that can be managed simultaneously. For optimal utilization, Timely is best suited for teams or companies who can benefit from its paid plans, which start at $49 per month for a team of five individuals.
